VRLTA Kitchen Cabinet: Restaurant Advocacy Workshop - Prince William
Thursday, September 25, 2025 (2:00 PM - 3:30 PM) (EDT)
Description
Throughout Virginia, local governments are increasingly turning to food and meals taxes to plug holes in their annual budgets. The Virginia General Assembly has passed legislation that makes it easier for Supervisors and City Councilors to institute and raise these taxes without a public vote.
These misguided efforts are a financial burden on customers that will discourage them from dining out and damage the restaurant industry - now is the time to fight back!
VRLTA is offering the NOVA Kitchen Cabinet Local Advocacy Course to help Virginia restaurateurs combat these issues as they arise. Designed to educate foodservice professionals on advocating against food and meals tax increases at the local level, this course also provides access to a resource library filled with tools such as marketing collateral, how-to guides, creative templates, and more. You'll be prepared for advocacy not just on taxes, but also on a range of issues impacting our industries locally. | ![]() |
![]() | Join Tommy Herbert, VRLTA’s Director of Government Affairs, for this important training on recognizing potential threats, organizing an effective coalition, and advocating directly with local officials. |
After completing the course, participants will have the opportunity to take a quiz and earn the VRLTA Local Advocate Certification.
Registration closes Sept. 23rd at 5:00 PM
